Membership of the AiA is open to authors who have chosen to self-publish their work. There are five grades of membership as follows:
Affiliate - anyone interested in the publication of their own work who wishes to
participate in the AiA community without the benefits of full membership. Affiliates may upgrade to
member (Associate, Member) at any time.
Associate – one who is in the process of arranging the publication of their own work, or one who plans to publish their own work upon completion of that work.
Member – one who has arranged the publication of their own work either under their own name or under their own imprint, and authors who have published traditionally who now wish to publish their work independently.
Note: unpublished authors require different services and information to authors who are already published. This differentiation allows us to tailor services for each grade.
Fellow – one who has rendered exceptional service advancing the standing of independent authors. This grade is by nomination only.
Consultant – a sole proprietor who offers services that meet the needs of independent authors, for example, editors, book designers, marketing consultants, publicists etc. |
