The purpose of Chapters is to provide
an opportunity for members to meet, offer support, and develop initiatives
for promotion locally yet under the AiA banner rather than as individual
authors.
Chapters can
be whatever you need them to be from a casual get-together for coffee and a
chat (‘coffee casual’) to joint activities for promotion including:
- Book signings
- Author presentations
- Chapter-coordinated book tours
- Joint advertising campaigns
- Community/charity events eg book donations to schools etc
- Local library programs etc
- 1-2 hour seminars to inform other prospective authors who might be
interested in self-publishing. This could also include a book display of
Chapter members’ books and signings.
There is a Forum in our Body of Knowledge (BoK) for
Chapter/Local
Initiatives
with ideas for events and gatherings. This is also where chapters should share
their experiences and ideas for other Chapters to consider.
Chapter members have their own community within the
AiA including a Chapter blog, discussion forums, photo gallery and a Chapter
newsletter (which automatically incorporates all recent posts to the Chapter
blog, events, photo gallery etc).
See Chapter Roles for description of Chapter President and Chapter Administrator.
